NEW site map for Mason Bay (2025)

Mason Bay recreational reserve and campground is a popular family-friendly, dog friendly location with an open south-facing beach with small protected rock-bound beaches at either end.
In recent years there have been some improvements and extensions to the campground that has resulted in more camp sites and drop toilet facilities for camp goers. In 2025, the Shire did a major overhaul of the campground to enlarge many of the smaller campsites and standardise sites to fit most caravans (12m x 7m) with some sites remaining unchanged to cater for smaller vans and camper trailers. In addition, some of the interior access roads have been widened to allow better egress in and out of sites and campsites renumbered (see new site map below). It is an area targeted for ongoing improvements by the Shire of Ravensthorpe. Visitors wishing to stay at the campground must book online via the Shire’s campground booking portal.
The beachside campground is located approximately 38km east of Hopetoun and approximately 10km west of Starvation Bay via Southern Ocean Road (unsealed). Protected by coastal vegetation giving ample shade for campers, this is a bush camp with basic facilities and is accessible by 2WD, caravans, motorhomes, campers, big rigs (limited sites).
The peak times when availability may become difficult is during the Christmas school holidays (mid-December to mid-January) and Easter holidays and it is advisable to have a backup plan and to arrival early in the day in the event the campsite is full and you need time to travel to the next campground.
Camp fees apply per night/per site and we strongly recommend you book your campsite online prior to your arrival at the campground, although a Starlink tower has been installed near the Information Board located at the entrance. You will need to be close to the tower to connect to the free Wi-Fi to access the internet and change your phone settings to Wi-Fi Calling to make phone calls.
