 Announcement, 3 August 2023: Closure of All Unsealed Roads to Heavy Vehicles

Due the heavy rain and wet conditions, all gravel roads within the Shire of Ravensthorpe are closed to heavy vehicles above 4.5 tonnes until further notice. Drivers are advised to be cautious and drive to conditions and be aware that there may be some localised flooding over roads throughout the south coastal region.

Work To Begin On New Bridge For Springdale Rd

Main Roads WA has confirmed to the Shire of Ravensthorpe that construction work for the much anticipated new bridge on Springdale Road will start on Tuesday 6 June 2023, the day after the WA Day public holiday.

The work consists of a new concrete bridge over Jerdacuttup River located on Springdale Road, east of Orchid Road.

While Main Roads WA are undertaking this work Springdale Road will remain closed between Orchid Road and Mary’s Road with signed detours in place. See below.

Main Roads WA have advised this work is expected to be completed in March 2024.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe thanks residents for their patience while this work is being carried out and we look forward to residents using the new bridge in 2024.

Good news for all! Repair work on Jerdacuttup Road between the FQM mine entrance and Fence Road has been undertaken. Sealing work has commenced with the largest section near the Jerdacuttup Primary School completed 4th May. Work on other sections will continue over the next few weeks.

Please allow for some traffic delays as traffic management and reduce speed signs are in place and we ask that you please adhere to them and drive with care.

New Floater Road in Ravensthorpe

Work on the new Floater Road at Ravensthorpe is almost complete. From Friday 27 January traffic will switch from the old Newdegate Road to the new Floater Road alignment. However, construction work will continue for several weeks with heavy equipment still operating.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe is asking that only local traffic use the area at this stage, and that everyone carefully observes all traffic signage. Once these final works are complete, the Shire of Ravensthorpe will advise when the new Floater Road is ready for all.
